Outlook Live Transition - To Know
A. Accessing Email after the Transition Date
There are two ways to immediately access your email after the transition date. You can log into DORI, or directly into Outlook Live. See the instructions below for each of them. When you log in for the first time, you will need to enter your Time Zone (e.g. (GMT-5:00) Eastern Time (US & Canada))
On the specific date when employee Email is transitioned to OutLook Live there will be a brief Email outage. At the end of that outage, all employees must log into www.duq.edu/DORI and click on the Email Link (at the top right of the web page) to get their Email. As an alternative, you can also log directly into www.outlook.com to get your email.
B. First Time Login Username and Password
If you log into www.duq.edu/DORI to access your email you will need to enter your username and password. Your username is your full Duquesne email address (e.g. smithj@duq.edu). The password for www.outlook.com in your first login will be the First Letter of your first name, the First Letter of your lastname and the last four digits of your SSN.
If you log into www.outlook.com, you will need to enter your username and password. Your username is your full Duquesne email address (e.g. smithj@duq.edu). The password for www.outlook.com in your first login will be the First Letter of your first name, the First Letter of your lastname and the last four digits of your SSN. If Joe Smith were logging into www.outlook.com for the first time, his username would be smithj@duq.edu and his password would be js1234.
C. Time Zone and Password Change
When you log into Outlook Live for the first time, you will be prompted to enter your local time zone (Pittsburgh is -5 Hour GMT) and you will be prompted to change your password. You must change your password to your current Multipass password. Once you have changed your password, your Multipass password will ‘synchronize’ with our Multipass system. This synchronization will allow you to perform your periodic Multipass password changes at (www.duq.edu/multipass) and those changes will automatically update into Outlook Live. This means that once you have logged into Outlook Live, and changed your password in that system, you will use your current Multipass password every subsequent time you log in.
D. Setting up Mobile Devices
Once you have successfully logged into Outlook Live for the first time and changed your password, you have a full feature rich Email and Calendaring system available to you. Click HERE for information on how to setup your smartphone or mobile device.
E. Existing Forwards from Duquesne’s Email
Some employees forward their Duquesne Email to Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail and other Email service providers. If you have an email forward in place, forwards will stop working on the transition date. Outlook live has provisions for Email forwarding. It is strongly recommended that Duquesne employees not forward their Duquesne Email to another mail service. Most people have been forwarding their Email to gain the great benefits that are now inherent in Outlook Live. The tremendous features including full Duquesne directory access, integrated Email and Calendar proposals, synchronized folders (inbox, sent mail, all folders) with every computer you have access to, global access to mail, calendar and storage, make Outlook Live worth your time.
We suggest you adopt the new Outlook Live environment and migrate your Duquesne Email and Calendar process within this rich enterprise environment.
If you would like to continue to forward your Duquesne Outlook Live Email, you can follow THESE instructions.
