Network - ResNet

This information only applies to people connecting in the Living Learning Centers

General ResNet Info

The campus network will not allow for the use of hardcoded IP addresses-- attempting to hardcode an address will prevent you from connecting to the campus network. If you are experiencing any kind of connection problems in the LLC's, please see Troubleshooting Connection Problems or contact the CTS Help Desk at x4357 for assistance. If the line is busy, it is important that you leave your name, date and time of call, room number, phone number, brief description of the problem, and a time to call back.

All email, web browsing, and other network traffic will perform normally. The ResNet does not block any applications. Additionally, however, some programs may not work correctly (e.g. peer-to-peer applications such as Kazaa, Morpheus, AudioGalaxy, Gnutilla, and NetMeeting). Similarly, if you currently use Managed Norton, you will need to reinstall the application as Unmanaged. In most cases these applications may just need to be re-configured in order to restore functionality. However, CTS cannot provide support for troubleshooting these third-party applications. For further information about these applications, please see frequently asked questions.

Please note-- the wireless network will not be impacted by the changes implemented through ResNet. Wireless connectivity will remain exactly the same.
