    National Conference of Metropolitan Courts

The Cyril H. Wecht Institute of Forensic Science and Law is pleased to be partnering with the Duquesne University School of Law to host the educational component of the annual meeting of the National Conference of Metropolitan Courts (NCMC) on Tuesday, Oct. 9 in the University’s Power Center Ballroom.

Entitled New Developments in the Law, Science, and Technology, the program will feature morning presentations by Dr. Wecht and famed criminalist Dr. Henry Lee; a lunchtime discussion by Paula Hannaford-Agor, director of the Center of Jury Studies at the National Center for State Courts; and a series of afternoon presentations on conviction integrity featuring the Honorable William Carpenter, administrative judge of the Montgomery County Criminal Division; Mr. Bruce Godschalk, a Pennsylvania exonoree; Professor Jennifer Dysart of the Department of Psychology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice; the Honorable Stewart J. Greenleaf, chairman of the Pennsylvania State Senate’s Judiciary Committee; and Professor John Rago of the University’s School of Law.

The NCMC, which is chaired this year by the Honorable Donna Jo McDaniel, president judge of Allegheny County, consists of president and administrative judges from every major urban area and some of the largest state court systems in the United States, and is the premier judicial organization of its kind.

The event is free, though pre-registration is requested. Those interested in attending should contact Ms. Eileen Morrow of the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas at 412-350-6939 or eileen.morrow@alleghenycourts.us. For more information, they should go to www.metrocourts.org.
