Duquesne University has a longstanding commitment to educating students who are able to collaboratively build a more just and verdant world. This form of education rests heavily on community-engaged experiences that put the knowledge, skills, and dispositions of the disciplines into action.
Prior to 2014, the University emphasized service-learning and had a service-learning graduation requirement for all undergraduate students. The approach to community-engaged forms of learning has evolved to become known community-engaged learning and it is a prioritized and mission-centered form of learning, however, it is not a requirement for all students. .
