Bill Askin has been facilitating groups of children and adults for more than a dozen years as they work on teambuilding and cooperative skills by using outdoor adventure activities. These experiential activities offer direct opportunities to learn about intra-personal and inter-personal behaviors. Working on such experiential activities tends to promote a foundation for improved relationships now - with the hope that people avoid problems later. He is currently continuing semi-annual group facilitator training through the Hero's Journey Foundation. This involves a deeper view of group process and how to facilitate a group in a supportive way regardless of what subject matter is evoked. In recent years, Bill has taught law classes to paralegal students. He is a Certified Transformative Mediator®, and is trained to deal with relationships as well as the problems presented by disputants. He also mediates employer-employee workplace disputes for the Transportation Safety Administration and occasionally mediates federal court cases filed in the Western District Court of Pennsylvania. In addition to mediating, Bill facilitates Victim-Offender Dialogues. These face-face meetings are a form of restorative justice where victim and offender meet face-to-face, often avoiding court proceedings.
