Bio

Emily Fenichel is a specialist in the Italian Renaissance, focusing on the work of Michelangelo and Marian Iconography. Her broader research investigates the overlap between the visual arts, theology, liturgy, and devotion in the Renaissance. Dr. Fenichel also has a strong interest in the Digital Humanities and was an integral part of the Digital Leonardo Project at the University of Virginia. Currently, she is working on several articles, including one on Michelangelo's Portrait Medal by Leone Leoni.
