I received a B.S. in Biological Sciences at UMBC where I worked as an undergraduate research assistant, focusing on HIV protein structures. In 2012, I received a Ph.D. in Molecular Microbiology and Immunology from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. My research focused on engineering commensal bacteria to express antibodies against cell adhesion proteins to prevent the sexual transmission of cell-associated HIV-1. I previously taught HIV Biology at Johns Hopkins University, which redirected my interest towards science education.
