Michael came to Pittsburgh from Trinidad and Tobago in 1996, shortly after being awarded the top prize for Best Guitar Solo at the 1995 Trinidad and Tobago National Music Festival. Michael was awarded a scholarship to study music at Duquesne University where he earned Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees in Performance. He joined the music faculty at Duquesne University as Adjunct Professor of Classical Guitar and Director of the Classical Guitar Ensemble in 2002. Since 2003, Michael has partnered with Hope Academy of Music and the Arts to give regional young people from low-income families an opportunity to further their personal and artistic growth through the study and performance of music. In 2010, Michael became the Music Director at Hope Academy. In addition to his current education work with Duquesne University and Hope Academy, Michael is the Founding and Artistic Director of Guardians Of Sound Inc., a non-profit corporation founded to promote live acoustic music performance and instruction.
