Bio

Dr. Michael Forlenza is currently the Assistant Dean in the School of Leadership and Professional Advancement and Program Director of the Professional Coach Certificate Program.  Prior to his appointment at Duquesne, Dr. Forlenza was the Director for Strategic Research at the Jewish Healthcare Foundation (JHF), as well as an Assistant Professor of Health Sciences at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia.  He was also a member of the Strategic Planning & Knowledge Translation Group, the Provincial BCCA Psychosocial Oncology Research Committee, and the Psychoneuroimmunology Group in at the British Columbia Cancer Agency. 

Dr. Forlenza earned M.S. and Ph.D. in biological and health psychology at the University of Pittsburgh and an MPH in cancer prevention, epidemiology and public health policy at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School Of Public.  He research and teaching experience is interdisciplinary and includes Psychology, Psychiatry, Epidemiology, Health Behavior and Health Education, Health Policy, and Medical Oncology. Further, he has presented his findings internationally and has numerous scientific publications.  He also served as a reviewer for the National Cancer Institute, the Society of Behavioral Medicine and Psychological Bulletin.  He is also a speaker and executive leadership coach with a practice that focuses on leading mindfully and mindfulness-based emotional intelligence.
