Dr. Sonia Nieto
Duquesne University School of Education’s Sizemore Urban Education Initiative is pleased to announce Dr. Sonia Nieto as a visitor to the University on Thursday, January 20 and Friday, January 21, 2011.
Dr. Nieto will come to share her expertise and reflections in “Conversations with the Author” concerning her books that we have been reading on educating diverse learners.
The Sizemore Book Club is currently reading Dr. Nieto’s book, The Light in Their Eyes.
Duquesne University’s Leading Teaching Program in Urban Education currently has a cohort of students who have been reading her publication Why We Teach.
Dr. Nieto’s book Affirming Diversity: The Sociopolitical Context of Multicultural Education is next on our list of books that every teacher should read.
Our “Conversation with Dr. Sonia Nieto” promises to be a very exciting event here on the Duquesne University campus.
Dr. Sonia Nieto is famous for her research in diverse multicultural education. In the following photos she chats freely with the School of Education Early Career Faculty and Sizemore Book Club Members. In addition, the professors of the School of Education were invited to observe and participate in the discussion. The conversations took place in Canevin Hall overlooking Academic Walk on the Duquesne University campus. Dr. Nieto also shared her expertise with freshman in the Leading Teacher Program in Urban Education.
