Robyn Edwards

Working with predominantly children ranging in age from approximately 2 years to 10 years old, with a number of conditions including: cochlear implants, expressive language delay, language learning disability, dyspraxia, autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, fluency, etc. Also work with survivors of strokes and language therapy as well as dysphagia treatment.

In My Real Life: Since graduation, I have worked to establish a private practice of approximately 50+ patients, I have co-founded a parent support group for parents of special needs children, as well as monthly social gathering in the community for adults from 17-30 with special needs.  I am part of the first speech and language association of Trinidad and Tobago as well as making strides to standardize the profession through licensure in Trinidad and Tobago.  I have worked on teams from John's Hopkins as well as professionals from Boston's Children's Hospital and different clinics in Florida and throughout the U.S. Work keeps me pretty busy but I have found time to explore, as I am also a travel enthusiast and have been fortunate enough to visit a number of places in South East Asia, Europe, and South America since graduation.

In My Real Life: Married to Megan Canny on April 29, 2006 in Pittsburgh, PA., moved to Springfield, VA in July of 2007, became a homeowner on April 29, 2008, and became an uncle on September 6, 2009.

Working with 3-21 year olds with a range of disabilities, including delayed articulation/language development, apraxia, learning disabilities, APD, Down Syndrome, Autism, and TBI.

In My Real Life: I lived in Virginia for 4 years, and 2 of those years were in historic Colonial Williamsburg.  After Virginia I drove cross-country to Los Angeles where my car was shipped to O'ahu, Hawaii.  I lived in O'ahu and worked as a contracted SLP in the school system there and loved being able to travel to all the islands.  Now i live in Ski Town, CO working in the schools.

In My Real Life: After graduation, I moved to Boardman, OH to work with Premier Therapy for approximately 1.5 years and then moved to Cleveland to work for Arbor Rehabilitation for 6 months.  Moved back to the Pittsburgh area to work for Guardian Rehabilitation Services at Jefferson Hills Manor in May of 2006.
