Law Clinic receives favorable mention in Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

The Post-Gazette featured a prominent piece extolling the Law Clinic's work - under the supervision of Acting Director Tracey McCants Lewis - in assisting the NAACP and helping indigent citizens clear their criminal records in order to gain productive employment. Several days earlier, the Post-Gazette published a laudatory article recognizing the Law Clinic's role in assisting poor and elderly citizens in appealing their new property assessments, in conjunction with Professor Joseph Sabino Mistick's urban development clinic.

2010 Pennsylvania Bar Association Pro Bono Award

The Unemployment Compensation Clinic led by Supervising Attorney Michael Simon (L’ 80),  received a 2010 Pennsylvania Bar Association Pro Bono Award.  The award recognizes attorneys and judges who have made exceptional contributions to improve civil legal aid in the Commonwealth.

During 2009-2010,  the students in the Unemployment Compensation Clinic handled 87 clients at Unemployment Compensation referee hearings throughout the Greater Pittsburgh region.  This is the largest number of clients ever served by the Unemployment Compensation Law Clinic in its history.

Students Present Oral Arguments before U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit

Students with the Bill of Rights - Civil Rights Litigation Clinic presented oral arguments before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania in two prisoners' rights cases. The students were supervised by attorneys Adrian N. Roe, Katherine H. Fein and Tracey McCants Lewis. Flyer
