The Student Bar Association (SBA) is a student organization that plans charitable and social events and functions as a liaison between the law school staff and the student body. The SBA hosts events including the Annual Katie Westbrook Race,Barrister's Ball,and Graduation-related events. It is a great way to get involved, meet people,gain leadership experience, while enriching your resume.
The Student Bar Association is comprised of two Representatives from each section of the student body and an Executive Board. The Executive Board consists of a President,Vice President for the Day Division,Vice President for the Evening Division,Secretary and Treasurer. In this election,we will be electing:
• The entire Executive Board
• 2 representatives for each section of the day division (rising 2D, 3D)
• 2 representatives for each evening division (rising 2E,3E,4E)
ELECTION PROCESS & TIMELINE:
There are no restrictions as to who may run for an Executive Board position except that only a Day Division student may run for Vice President for the Day Division and only an Evening Division student may run for Vice President for the Evening Division.In addition, students may only run for a Section Representative position in their own sections.
For your name to be placed on the ballot,you must complete a questionnaire and petition by obtaining fifty (50) signatures for a Section Representative position or one hundred and twenty five (125) signatures for an Executive Board position from non-graduating students.
Petitions can be picked up at Main Office on Friday,February 14
All completed petitions must be handed into the Main Office.
• Petitions are due Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 5:00 p.m.
o Petitions can be picked up and submitted to the Main Office.
• Campaigning Timeline:
o March 8,2014 @ 8 am until Thursday ,March 20,2014 @ 6pm.
FINE PRINT: The only permissible meas of campaigning is by hanging 8.5" by 11" self-designed campaign signs on the bulletin boards on the ends of the loackers and the sign hanging strips down in the locker area of the law school building. Approved candiddates are also permitted to give speeches to classes, upon prior approval to the classroom Professor. NO TAPE OF ANY KIND is to be used to hang signs in the law school. The tearing down of opponents' signs, any offensive campaign tactics, or any other conduct unbecoming a law student will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action. • Elections will be held online Monday, March 17 to Thursday,March 20, at 6 p.m.
o Winners will be announced Friday, March 21,2014.
Voting will be online through SharePoint.
