Course Description

This course provides an introduction to energy law and regulation in the United States.  It focuses on the basic principles of rate regulation and public utilities, the division of jurisdiction between federal and state governments, and the key regulatory federal statutes and case law governing energy resources.  The class will also examine new challenges confronting energy law as a result of climate change and emerging mandates for renewable energy.  (2 credits)
