Requirements for a Major in Classical Languages

The department offers a Classical Languages major of 24 credits in Latin and Greek with a minimum of:

  • 18 credits from courses in one language.*
  • 6 credits from courses in the other language*

*Language courses at the 201-204 level also count toward the McAnulty College's literature requirement. Courses at or above the 202 (Greek 204) level automatically fulfill the McAnulty College's language requirement.

Students are invited to consult with the department for additional information. A students' major is not officially declared until the student completes the Major/Minor Declaration form.  To complete the Major/Minor Declaration form:

  • Log on to DORI>Index>Academics>Schools>Liberal Arts>Undergraduate College>Major/Minor Declaration form. 
After you complete the form, you will be notified by the department that the form has been received, and you will need to make an appointment to meet with the chairperson of the department.
