What is Service-learning?
Service-learning is a form of experiential education.
Each service-learning class teams up with a community organization and works together with them. Students do several hours of service. In this service experience, students learn from and teach those with whom they work. Students of service-learning classes thus have the opportunity to place what they learn in the classroom in a setting of experience in the world outside the classroom. They then bring back what they learn in this setting back into the classroom.
Every liberal arts student participates in service-learning in their first year as a part of their learning community.
Various departments of the College also offer other service-learning classes.
Here is an example of some of the work our students have done in the past.
