Washington, DC, Internships
To enroll in either program Duquesne University you register at Duquesne, pay Duquesne University's tuition, room and board fees, and Duquesne pays American Universtiy or the Washington Internship Institute. Interested applicants should read carefully the College's American University policies (pdf) and Washington Internship Institute policies (pdf) and the procedures that apply to both.
Students from the College have had good experiences with both programs, but they are different. In general, students at American University spend more time in classes and less time working in their internship than students at the Washington Internship Institute. Duquesne's fees cover the costs of the Washington Internship Institute, while students who go to American University generally must pay a premium above their costs at Duquesne, unless they earn a scholarship from American. (Scholarships are available, and the College encourages you to apply for them.)
