The city of Pittsburgh offers the ultimate performance outlet for students of the Mary Pappert School of Music. Duquesne's symphony orchestra and wind ensembles perform regularly at the historic Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. Frequently described as "acoustically perfect" for the quality of its sound, the hall seats 1,950 in elegant surroundings.
Pittsburgh has a rich history as a cultural center for jazz, and Duquesne's jazz studies program continues the tradition. Student jazz ensembles perform in the 350-seat music hall of Manchester Craftsmen's Guild, an arts organization committed to preserving, presenting and promoting jazz. The ensembles also participate in a variety of festivals and other events sponsored by the Pittsburgh Jazz Society and Mellon Jazz.
