An in-depth exploration of the design concepts of creating digital video projects as a production and presentation tool for musicians. The projects will emphasize the creation and manipulation of digital video as a creative tool for musicians to further their work in performance, composition, and teaching. Projects will be realized through the use of Apple's Final Cut Pro X and iMovie and will cover filming and importing digital video, editing clips for an effective story line, the use of still images within projects, audio in video, the use of visual filters and effects, and the export of video in a variety of formats. The use of digital video in the performance and presentation of music will be given special attention. The final project will be an original video project that demonstrates the creative and technical skills acquired throughout the course. Students are encouraged to bring their own cameras and/or smart phones with digital video capabilities; additional devices will be available for in class use. This course fulfills the requirements of a TI:ME 2B course.
Prerequisites: Preparing Digital Media I or familiarity with digital imaging is highly recommended.
