Our Facilities & Technologies
The School of Pharmacy is housed on the fourth floor of the Richard King Mellon Hall of Sciences and the adjacent Bayer Learning Center. These facilities support the research and teaching activities of the School.
Four large-capacity lecture halls and ten smaller classrooms are dedicated to the didactic portion of the curriculum. The academic program has been enhanced by a recent multi-million dollar renovation project to enhance the active learning capabilities of the curriculum, including a simulation laboratory, areas for small group projects, problem-based learning assignments, and interactive learning areas. The Abilities-Based Learning Experience (ABLE) laboratories offer student pharmacists a hands-on pharmacy practice experience throughout the curriculum.
Recently renovated laboratories that support the research activities for students and faculty are primarily located in the Mellon Hall of Science. Research facilities and equipment are state-of-the-art, ranging from cell culture laboratories, to wet laboratories, to analytical equipment and process analytical technology. Animal research is supported by the Center for Animal Care.
New facilities, such as the Center for Pharmacy Care on Fifth Avenue and Duquesne University Pharmacy, aid in facilitating the academic programs, as well as offer patient-based experiences for our student pharmacists.
