Our New Home for Active Learning

We are proud of the opening of our “Home for Active Learning,” the Bayer Learning Center second floor renovations. Educators now recognize the critical added value of active learning—an approach through which students become full partners and accountable for their education. Rather than simply absorbing information, students are challenged to participate through analysis and synthesis, apply the information learned in classes and labs, experience outside learning, reflect, and demonstrate competency.

Take a video virtual tour of the new addition to the Mylan School of Pharmacy: The Second Floor Bayer Learning Center.

Active learning is especially important in pharmacy. Pharmacists’ roles in promoting wellness and providing drug therapy management are expanding. Technology is evolving rapidly. It is no longer sufficient for students to soak up knowledge; they must develop and practice self-direction, flexibility, critical thinking, and individual and teamwork skills—well before they begin their first field experiences.
