Spend the Month of May Studying in Ghana, Africa. . .
The Duquesne University Maymester Program is taking students to Ghana in 2015!  This program gives students the opportunity to spend 4 weeks abroad during the summer to learn and experience a new culture while making lifelong friends.

Program Highlights
• Travel on a 4-day group excursion to Northern Ghana to go on Safari and visit a monkey sanctuary
• Visit Kakum National Park and Canopy Walk (100 feet high) - the only one in Africa
• Tour Cape Coast Castle, a World Heritage Site, reputed to have been the largest slave-holding site in the world during the colonial era
• Attend an Ashanti Ceremony with King
• Learn from our on-site Director and Resident Assistant

Ghana Maymester

During this four week program, students will take two courses and earn six credits:

THEO/AFST 280 Faith and Reason
(Satisfies CORE Theme Area: Faith & Reason)
This course will explore how the relationship between faith and reason was and is shaped by the history of slavery and colonialism in Ghana as well as the influence of the Ashanti traditional religiosity on Ghanaian Christianity. Ghana's relationship to the rest of Africa and the world will be engaged to better understand contemporary world perspectives on the relationship between faith and reason.

ARHY/AFST 300 African Film
(Choose CORE theme area: Creative Arts OR Social Justice)
Exploring the use of film and film-making in understanding social and cultural aspects of select locations.
