Cross-Registration Guidelines
In addition to the guidelines set-up by the University, the School of Business does not permit students to cross-register for a course that is currently offered at Duquesne.
Summer Registration Information
At Duquesne
Registration for summer courses occurs simultaneously with the fall pre-registration process (usually in late March and early April). This allows your Academic Advisor to assist you in preparation of both summer and fall schedules. You may register for summer courses up until the first day of classes, but you are encouraged to sign up early to ensure a seat in the course(s).
Summer Courses at Other Colleges
Permission to Take Courses Off-Site
You may receive permission to take summer courses at a school near your home. However, you must receive written approval from your Academic Advisor before the end of the spring term. Please submit a Summer Class Request Form (found below) to your Academic Advisor with a photocopy of the course descriptions for the courses that you would like to take during the summer.
Are You Eligible to Take Summer Courses at Another College?
You must have a minimum GPA of 2.00.

- You are not permitted to transfer coursework after you have earned 90 credits. All seniors must fulfill their last 30 credits in residence.
- If you are enrolled in the 3/3 Law Program, you are not permitted to take any courses away from Duquesne.
What Classes Could You Take?

Transferring the Credits Back to Duquesne
After you have taken a course off-site, it is your responsibility to have the school send an official copy of your transcript to the Office of the Registrar at Duquesne University. You must receive a grade of “C” or higher to receive transfer credit. The letter grade will not transfer; only the credits will transfer.
Off-Site Summer Course Permission Request Form
A completed permission for is required in advance form all off-site summer courses you take. Please complete the attached form and provide to your Academic Advisor along with a photo copy of the course descriptions. By signing this permission form, your Academic Advisor will be ensuring that the credits will transfer back to Duquesne University.
