Incoming Mail
Sorting and Delivery Process
Incoming United States mail is delivered at the Main Mailing Center at 8 a.m. The incoming mail is sorted and wrapped for next day delivery. At 9:15 a.m., delivery begins to campus buildings. There is one mail delivery and pick-up daily Monday through Friday. See campus delivery schedule for specific times.
Accountable Mail
Mail that requires a signature upon delivery is accountable mail. Accountable mail includes Expresses, Certified, Insured, Registered Mail, and Signature Confirmation. All accountable mail is delivered each day by the Postal Service and is signed for by Mailing Service personnel. The mail is recorded as to the type, expresses will be delivered that afternoon; all other accountable mail is delivered the following day with your daily mail.
Monday - Friday
Postal express mail/packages are delivered directly to Mailing Service. Federal Express, United Parcel, and DHL are delivered directly to the Receiving Department, located in Mellon Hall ext. 6008.
Weekends and Holidays
All express mail/packages are delivered to the Public Safety Department. If you are expecting a package, stop at the Public Safety Department along with your Duquesne ID Card.
Business Reply Mail
All Business Reply Mail is delivered directly to Mailing Services each morning. All Business Reply Mail pieces are separated by departments, the number of pieces recorded, and appropriate fee is charged back to the departments. All Business Reply Mail is delivered the day after it is received by Mailing Services.
Postage Due Mail
All mail that is addressed to the University with the incorrect amount of postage and/or non-deliverable as addressed chargable pieces are delivered each morning. These pieces are sorted and delivered to the deparment the following day. The postage due amount is charged back to the department to which it's addressed.
