New Students

Dining Services

dining off rampStudying and hanging out with friends while eating is part of the campus experience.

We have 11 dining locations including  coffee houses, a dining hall, campus restaurants, a fast food grill and a juice bar.

Since you will probably have a lot on your plate, not just counting food, here is what you need to know to get started. (Learn more at www.duq.edu/dining).

Resident Students

If you choose to live on campus you will receive your Duquesne Student ID during move-in, pre-loaded with the meal plan that you selected. If you do not select a meal plan prior to arriving, you will automatically be enrolled in the 14 meal plan. You can change your plan within the first two weeks of each semester in the Office of Residence Life in Assumption Hall.

What Meal Plan Should I Choose?

For resident students, all meal plans are priced the same; what varies is the number of meals per week and the amount of pre-loaded FLEX (dining debit dollars) included.

If you are commuting to campus or living in a nearby apartment, review our smaller plans and FLEX programs

Problems with the meal plan or FLEX on your DU Card? Contact DU Card Services or the Dining Office in the Duquesne Union, Suite 333.

Review Meal Plan Options and dining locations

Any cashier can tell you your FLEX balance. Or you can check your FLEX balance and add to it online.

Meal plans have  three parts:

The number of Meal Swipes (meals) varies with each plan. Meals are reset each Monday. A Meal Swipe gives you access to all-you-care-to-eat dining in The Hogan Dining Center in Towers where you will get the best value for your meal plan dollar.

You can Exchange a Meal Swipe for variety and convenience in The Off Ramp or Options Food Court in the Duquesne Union. If you are in a hurry you can use your Meal Exchange for a boxed meal-to-go at breakfast, lunch or dinner in The Short Stop C-Store, in Towers.

FLEX: Pre-loaded money on your ID Card can be spent in many on-campus dining locations. It’s like a debit card for food.

(FLEX is not accepted at Subway, Barnes & Noble Book Store Café, The Red Ring Restaurant and only during limited hours in the Student Union Starbucks and Jamba Juice.)
