Our Curriculum Center

Transform the learning and developmental experiences of K-12 learners inside or outside of the classroom through the resources in our Curriculum Center – a collection of PreK-12 educational resources designed to support schools and programs on campus working with children. 

Our Curriculum Center has endless resources for you to incorporate into your lesson plans and classrooms during field experiences, such as chapter books, picture books, big books, manipulatives, puppets and more! Additionally, the Curriculum Center provides resources to keep your classroom creatively informed during holidays and even for current events.

Located on Campus in Gumberg Library, these resources are available to the entire campus community, as well as to alumni.

Cakes, Culture and a Running Start on a Teaching Career

Hetanshi Shah has wanted to be a teacher since preschool. The York, Pa., native recalls playing school with friends over the years, realigning her career plans as time went on to coincide with her current grade. “In kindergarten, I wanted to be a kindergarten teacher. I changed my preferred grade level every year until I hit fifth grade,” she said. “I’ve stuck with fifth grade ever since.”

Duquesne University School of Education students and faculty work with over 75 school districts (suburban, urban, rural, Catholic, private and charter schools) in the Greater Pittsburgh Region through student teaching and other hands-on learning experiences.

School of Education's Dr. Christopher Meidl and his students assisted with the reopening of ABK Learning & Development Center. This opportunity aligned with Dr. Meidl's desire to work collaboratively within the Pittsburgh community as part of a socially just and culturally invested approach to the Leading Teacher Program at Duquesne, a main focus of the School of Education's mission. The reopening of the center was celebrated with a visit from Ben Carson, the United States Secretary of Housing and Urban Development.
