The Learning Skills Center lives the University mission by providing tutoring and college experience programs to children and teens in our community.
Tutoring for School Children
Program for Academic Coaching through Tutoring (PACT) gives Duquesne students an opportunity to volunteer, earn college credit or work for College Work-Study wages in the community by tutoring K-12 students from Pittsburgh and surrounding communities, In-school and after-school, on-campus during the evenings and on Saturdays.
Teaming up with The Bus
A computer camp for inner-city youth has operated on the campus of Duquesne University for three years. Students selected for the camp benefit from the eight-week educational experience where they learn such skills as building a computer, installing and using software, and developing good computer use habits.
Now beginning its fourth year, the computer camp is a Learning Skills Center partnership with the Bettis Foundation and the Pittsburgh Public Schools
A College Experience for High School Juniors and Seniors
The Summer Institute is offered at no charge for a week in July. High school juniors and seniors can live on the campus, attend classes taught by faculty, and earn college credit.
