The Final Step

Audition Process and Guidelines

From the group of interviewed students, contract winners will be chosen and all others will be notified that vacancies have been filled. In most situations, determinations will be made by April 15.

It should be understood that the Tamburitzans Managing Director may reopen the final or even general audition process if:

  • a notified finalist declines the contract
  • additional opening(s) need to be filled before the beginning of the new season

In this situation, the remaining interviewed applicants, as well as possible new applicants will be reviewed by the panel, and determinations will be made until all vacancies are filled.

During the process please realize that we are limited by the number of available contracts and by the particular talent needs for the upcoming season. Also note that the Tamburitzans contracts could be offered to college sophomores, juniors and seniors as well as to incoming freshmen. Thus, we encourage those who didn't receive a Tamburitzans contract on their first attempt to try again the following year.

Thank you for your interest in the Tamburitzans, and Good Luck!

Notice of Nondiscrimination Policy

It is the policy of Duquesne University to admit those applicants who are best qualified to profit from the opportunities it offers for intellectual, spiritual and social growth.  In general, acceptance into the Tamburitzans program is based upon past academic performance, scholastic ability, personal characteristics, and overall dance, musical and vocal talent necessary to fill specific or general vacant positions in the ensemble due to graduation or departure of current members.   The Audition Panel does not discriminate on the basis of religious preference, sex, race, color, national or ethnic origin, non-performance-related handicap or veteran's status in the administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarships and loan programs.
