Duquesne Women’s Guild Sets Benefit Record for Scholarship, Spiritan Campus Ministry
Every spring, the Duquesne University Women’s Guild hosts a fashion show and luncheon benefit—but this year’s fundraiser was a record-setter, topping $30,000.
The money will be donated to the Women’s Guild Endowed Scholarship and will support students who travel on the Spiritan Campus Ministry spring break mission trip to New Orleans. Every year since Hurricane Katrina ravaged the city, Duquesne students have brought the University’s mission of service to the residents of New Orleans.
“We’re tremendously grateful to the Women’s Guild members for their diligent efforts and for this donation,” said the Rev. Ray French, director of Spiritan Campus Ministry. “Without this fantastic support, we couldn’t reach out to those who need assistance in New Orleans and fulfill our mission to serve those in need.”
Part of the benefit proceeds also will be used for an endowed scholarship for students who have financial need.
Chair of the event was Mary McIntyre, assistant to the President.
