Research in Action

The Duquesne difference in research is that each faculty member is expected to be a great teacher as well as an outstanding scholar. But, driven by their commitment to add to the world’s collective knowledge, much of Duquesne’s research is intended to have impact in communities near the University as well as around the world, like:

Duquesne's 40 interdisciplinary centers and institutes include:

  • The Institute for Energy and the Environment
  • The Center for Green Industries and Sustainable Business Growth
  • The Small Business Development Center
  • The Center for Healthcare Ethics
  • The Beard Institute, which focuses on sustainability in finances, human capital and environmental areas
  • The Chronic Pain Consortium, an interdisciplinary collaborative to tackle these persistent health concerns.
