Retirement Plan Eligibility
Employee Contributions
All employees (part-time and full-time; union and non-union, and students) have the opportunity to participate as a voluntary member of the plan immediately upon employment.
Enrollment for employee contributions requires the completion of these forms:
- Duquesne University Salary Reduction Agreement - This form authorizes the University to reduce your salary by the amount you elect.
- Enrollment Application - An enrollment application is required for each investment company you elect.
Duquesne University Contributions
Duquesne's contributions to the plan do not begin until the employee meets the following eligibility requirements. (Please check with the Benefits Office staff for specific details of the plan as it might apply to your situation. Specific rules more fully explained in the plan document.)
Your eligibility is based upon your full-time, non-temporary classification with the University as outlined below:
Faculty Members, Administrators and Executives
These employees are eligible to join the plan after one year of service, and are required to join the plan as a condition of employment after one year of service and attainment of age 35 (whichever occurs later). Service requirements may be waived for eligible employees with one year of service with an educational institution.
Support Staff Employees and SPFPA Local 502 Employees
These employees are eligible to join the plan after one year of service, and are required to join the plan as a condition of employment after five years of service and attainment of age 35 (whichever occurs later). Service requirements may be waived for eligible employees with one year of service with an educational institution.
SEIU Local 32BJ and IUOE Local 95 Employees
These employees are required to join the University plan. Enrollment in the University plan is effective following one year of service.
Teamsters Local 249 Employees
These employees are eligible to join the plan after one year of service.
