The Duquesne University School of Nursing (SON) is a nationally recognized pioneer in nursing education. Our nursing faculty is dedicated to creating an educational environment grounded in the practice of ethical, holistic, and culturally competent care for vulnerable populations.

The Chair of Advanced Practice Programs is responsible for oversight of the nurse practitioner program and development of additional advance practice tracks, as well as, for ensuring the quality and effectiveness of the interrelated academic and clinical portions of the educational program. The department chair will also provide leadership in curriculum development and redesign, supervise faculty who teach in the program, address and manage student and faculty academic and clinical issues, provide mentoring and development for faculty, development of faculty and student practice sites, and participate as a role model in the academic and scholarly missions of the department and the SON.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD or DNP
  • Tenure Track candidates must present a record of effective teaching and a program of research

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A PhD in Nursing
  • Certified Family Nurse Practitioner, Advanced practice nurses will be considered
  • Preference will be given to the candidate with successful teaching experience at the university or college level and/or previous administrative experience - to include online instruction
  • Demonstrated commitment to the profession as evidenced in record of professional leadership or public service, and scholarship
