Duquesne University invites applications and nominations for the position of Dean of the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business. Duquesne University is a Catholic University located in Pittsburgh, PA. The A.J. Palumbo School of Business Administration enrolls approximately 1,300 undergraduates in 11 majors for the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) degree. The John F. Donahue Graduate School of Business enrolls approximately 320 students in MBA (including an MBA Sustainability), MAcc, MSISM and MS programs including co-operative programs with other schools. Undergraduate and graduate programs are accredited by the AACSB International. The School's 59 full-time faculty members are organized into five academic departments.
We seek a candidate whose vision and leadership will continue to enhance the position of the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business within the upper tier of business education among the nation's Catholic universities. The Dean reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and is responsible for administration of all programs and budgets. The Dean is expected to promote an environment in which high quality teaching, research and service thrive.
The strongest candidates will possess the following:
- an earned doctorate in a business discipline
- academic accomplishments that merit appointment as a tenured Professor
- experience as a leader in an academic setting
- the ability to creatively translate the University's Spiritan mission into programs and curricula
- the ability to interact with faculty and value diverse backgrounds and alternative viewpoints
- the desire and ability to forge partnerships with private industry
- the ability to set priorities within a budgetary framework
- understanding of issues affecting the practice of business in the global economy
