Port Authority Announces Changes
Effective June 1, 2017 all monthly flash pass users will be required to present the ConnectCard when boarding Port Authority Transit.
All participants of the Duquesne University Transit Pass Program will be issued one card and it will be used in the same fashion as monthly pass with no initial activation fee. The cost of the monthly pass remains $97.50 per month. Each ConnectCard is uniquely assigned to you with a monthly pass electronically loaded to it toward the end of each month (between the 23rd - 25th) for use the following month. This card will act exactly as a monthly pass, there are no balances to monitor. Once you receive this card there will be no further distribution of flash passes, production ends with the May pass.
Please safeguard your ConnectCard. Should your pass become lost, stolen or damaged, the following steps will need to be taken:
> Immediately inform this office by contacting me by e-mail.
>Once I've been made aware, I will convey the circumstance to Port Authority and the card assigned to you will become void. It cannot be reactivated, Port Authority will completely rid the system of the unique identifier assigned to the card.
> A new card will be assigned to you. Port Authority advises as a precaution that the transition from one card to another could be delayed by up to 72 hours in the event there are days that remain within the month of the replacement. Thus, you may have to pay cash for individual rides until the transit system recognizes the new card as valid.
> A $1 card replacement will be added to your next payroll deduction.
Please note that these employer connected cards can only be managed by Duquesne University, you are not able to load them at any supermarket or free standing ConnectCard machine.
Any participant who wishes to opt out of the transit pass program will need to communicate by e-mail to me office on or prior to the 1st of every month preceding the deductions that are secured for the following month. This means that any participant who does not want a June pass needs to inform me by tomorrow Friday, April 28, 2017.
Individuals who seek to reinstate their transit pass enrollment will need to send an e-mail to me on or before the 1st of the month preceding the deductions that are secured for the following month. An individual expecting to utilize the transit pass program in July should submit an e-mail on or before Wednesday, May 31, 2017.
All current Port Authority Transit Pass Program participants will receive another e-mail advising them to retrieve their ConnectCard from their preferred location prior to Friday, May 19. In addition to the card, an information placard will accompany it with the ‘how to' use instructions and advantages that the ConnectCard offers.
Participants who pay for a South Hills Village parking garage pass will continue to use it regularly, the only change is the monthly flash pass to a ConnectCard.
Inquiries outside of the scope of distribution, payroll deductions, enrollment or discontinued enrollment should be directed to Port Authority customer service at 412.442.2000.
HR Staff Volunteers Time at the Jubilee Soup Kitchen
The Office of Human Resources participated in a Community Outreach project on April 26, 27, and 28th, 2017. The HR department volunteered at the Jubilee Soup Kitchen, which is located in the Hill District. Jubilee Soup Kitchen is an independent nonprofit organization supported and operated by concerned citizens of the Greater Pittsburgh metropolitan area. The kitchen draws approximately 125 guests a day. Many guests come as early as 8:30am for coffee and rolls, and stay until 11:00am for a served hot lunch. The HR staff participated in a variety of activities, which included, prepping salad and fruit salad, cleaning and organizing, and serving baked goods and hot lunches to guests. This was a great team-building opportunity and an honor to serve our local community.
