President's Letter for the 2012 United Way Campaign
Dear Colleague:
It is time again for our United Way campaign. This is another opportunity to show that the Duquesne community is a generous one, ready and willing to help those who are less fortunate. Because of the economy and especially the high unemployment rate, so many of our neighbors need us more than ever. Once again this fall, we will demonstrate our University’s commitment to standing with those in need through the 2012 United Way campaign.
Last year, we contributed over $93,300 to assist our neighbors in their times of need. Through the United Way this money helped seniors, children and working families. We supported better health, safer housing and job training, just to name a few of the many initiatives made possible through assistance from the United Way.
Duquesne’s participation in the annual United Way campaign is a chance for us to further our legacy of service and be a good neighbor here in Allegheny County.
A variety of on-campus activities are planned to support this year’s campaign. A fellow employee will contact you individually to share details about how to make a contribution. You can donate and learn more at www.duq.edu/united-way.
I encourage you to reflect on our University’s values and to take part in this worthy cause. I also encourage you to consider using the United Way as a means of contributing to charities you usually support directly. The charities will receive your contribution, and Duquesne will be recognized for a higher, more accurate total of giving.
Sincerely,
