Bio

Sean Tierney joined the faculty in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science in the fall of 2011 after earning his Master of Arts Degree in Research Methodology from the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a 2005 graduate of Duquesne University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics and Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. As a teacher of introductory and advanced courses in both statistics and biostatistics, Sean has received numerous university teaching accolades, including 2 Apple Polishing Awards, The Excellence in Teaching Award from the National Society of Leadership and Success, The Office of Residence Life Faculty Friend Award, and Duquesne University’s ODK Teacher of the Year Award. In addition to his teaching, Sean serves as the Director of the RATIO Learning Community in the College of Liberal Arts. He is also the faculty advisor of Duquesne University’s chapter of Pi Mu Epsilon (which is the national honors society for mathematics).
