Maryellen Kelly is an Assistant Professor of Practice in Management in the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business at Duquesne University. Professor Kelly develops and teaches core courses at the undergraduate level and master's level, both in the class room and online, in which she provides students with purposefully designed activities to bring theory to practice while connecting students to the community through engagement and projects.   Introduction to Marketing helps undergraduate students acquire research-based, contemporary knowledge of the marketing systems and its many stakeholders within the contemporary business environment. Product Management helps undergraduate students utilize a classic product framework through which students understand the ways profitable products and services are developed, grown, evaluated and managed. In support of the University mission, Product Management students complete a unique Service Learning unit in which academic study about contemporary Pro Bono practices and policies is coupled with Service to Uptown neighbor Bethlehem Haven.  This research-based project is now in its second year. Entrepreneurship is an MBA elective designed to provide students with a research based experience while exploring a possible business opportunity. It also provides overview of the many options available to begin and to develop a business profitable enterprise.

Her research explores the various ways individuals create and maintain businesses, pedagogical approaches to sustainability and entrepreneurship, and the implications of Pro Bono policies and practices in the contemporary environment. Her extensive Pittsburgh community service shapes her ongoing interest in connections and Service Learning at Duquesne. A graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh Year VI, she most recently served a term on the CORO Board.  In service to Pittsburgh's women business community, Kelly co founded the Women's Business Network, served as the Pittsburgh Representative to the national board of the National Association of Women Business Owners, was a founding Board member of the Women's Leadership Assembly, and currently serves as an advisor to Pittsburgh's Chapter of the National Association of Women MBA's.

Prior to joining Duquesne, Kelly was an Assistant Professor of Marketing at Waynesburg College. She has previously taught over 100 undergraduate and graduate courses at a variety of Pittsburgh area institutions, including Robert Morris University where students inducted her into the Order of Omega.  She has worked as a consultant in the Pittsburgh region and was both a Product Manager and Regional Sales Representative for Mellon Bank's Global Cash Management Division.

She holds a Ph.D. in entrepreneurship and management from the Union Institute and University, an M.B.A. in Marketing from The Ohio State University and a B.A. in Communications from Chatham College. She served Chatham as the Alumnae Association President and Alumnae Trustee.
