Uptown Jazz Series Concludes Season with ‘Today’s Influences’

The Mary Pappert School of Music’s Uptown Jazz Series (UJS) will conclude its current season with a concert featuring a broad section of music from some of the most influential performers and groups from the 1980s through the present.

The UJS, which has been focusing its season on the theme of The Evolution of Jazz, will present Today’s Influences on Monday, April 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Genesius Theater.

Among the numbers to be featured at the concert are:

  • Shofukan by Snarky Puppy
  • It’s Just Talk by Pat Metheny
  • Mosaic by the Yellowjackets
  • Liberty Avenue Stroll by Sean Jones.

The UJS concerts feature a core group of music school faculty members and special guest performers under the direction of Mike Tomaro, professor of jazz studies, jazz saxophone and composition in the music school. Tomaro developed this year’s theme, organizes and arranges all of the series’ music, and performs during each concert.

General admission is $10 for each concert. For more information, visit www.duq.edu/UptownJazz.
