Spanish for Healthcare Professionals Micro-Credential

Offered through the Center for Hispanic Studies, the Spanish for Healthcare Professionals Microcredential is a multi-course program designed to prepare students in the health sciences to communicate effectively and compassionately with Spanish-speaking patients. Students develop medical vocabulary, strengthen pronunciation, and build patient-centered communication skills through applied practice and real-world scenarios.

The program also includes an immersive study abroad experience in a Spanish-speaking environment, where students apply their language skills in authentic community and healthcare-related settings.

Together, these experiences provide structured, progressive training that integrates language proficiency, cultural understanding, and professional readiness for today’s healthcare environments.
