Biography
Dr. Burrows’ research interests are centered around her world at Duquesne University. She is a biological anthropologist, meaning she works on human and primate anatomy, and her research focuses on the larger question “how did we get here?”. To address this question, her lab works on how our skulls and teeth develop in response to what we eat by using other primates as a model. Dr. Burrows’ lab also focuses on the evolution of the human face by investigating our face muscles, and they include domestic dog faces to better understand our own changes over time.
Dr. Burrows is the President-Elect for the American Association for Anatomy, a volunteer Judge of Elections for the Allegheny County Bureau of Elections, and a volunteer dog handler at Animal Friends, a local animal shelter.
