Biography
Campus Minister Brenda Merrick is passionate about serving and supporting students in their faith journey. Her favorite part of her job is "listening to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and creating new opportunities and spaces where our students can grow in their love for God and their leadership in the Church".
Born and raised in Ebensburg, Pennsylvania, Brenda earned her Bachelors of Arts degree in Religious Studies and Spanish from St. Francis University and continued her education at Duquesne University, receiving her Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health.
Since joining Spiritan Campus Ministry in 2018, Brenda has led and organized student mission trips to Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Arlington, VA; Baltimore, MD; and Immokalee, FL. On campus, Brenda coordinates and leads ALIVE! (Adoration with Praise and Worship), Remain (Christian community worship and conversations on scripture), and Formed and Fashioned Small Groups.
She offers this advice to students: "You are only in college once. Don’t get so caught
up in the stress of studying and classes that you don’t take the opportunities available
to you to learn outside of the classroom. Speak the truth out loud that God is walking
with you even when you don’t feel his presence there."
Off of the Bluff, Brenda enjoys hiking to waterfalls, playing guitar and piano, spending
time with family, and walking her dogs.
