Biography
Under the direction of the Dean, Colleen is responsible for managing and controlling accounting, budgeting, auditing, and other financial or related functions to ensure the financial integrity of the Mary Pappert School of Music. She also assists with the management of personnel and operational matters.
Colleen assists the Dean with all Student Discretionary Professional Development Funding Awards—specifically, applications for individual student or student group funding requests for participation in performances, competitions, student chapter events for regional, national, and international music organizations, participation in summer music festivals, etc. Once funds have been awarded, Colleen assists our students with payments for registration, travel, and other expenses. She is also available to advise students regarding hotels, group fundraising, and other items related to our students' pursuit of professional development activities that enrich their education here at the Mary Pappert School of Music.
Colleen's past work experience includes work at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Medicine in a similar position, managing operational and NIH grant award funding and supervision of staff employees. She left the University of Pittsburgh to accept a position with a local software company to work on a contract with Time, Inc, specifically working with the Sports Illustrated production and advertising staff. Colleen left the software company to work part-time for CPA firms while raising her two children.
Before working at the University of Pittsburgh, Colleen worked in the Duquesne University Office of the Annual Fund while attending the School of Education, where she received her M.S.Ed. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Colleen is married and mother of two children. She met her husband at Duquesne while working on her master's degree and her oldest child now attends Duquesne. She is proud to be a Duquesne alum, parent, and staff member.
