Biography

Crystal Boudreaux, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor of Microbiology at Duquesne University's College of Osteopathic Medicine (DUQCOM). Before joining the inaugural faculty at DUQCOM, Dr. Boudreaux spent seven years at the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. She received a B.S. in biology with a concentration in microbiology from Nicholls State University and a Ph.D. in viral immunology from Mississippi State University. Dr. Boudreaux completed her post-doctoral work at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute at VTC in molecular virology. 

Dr. Boudreaux has experience in many different teaching modalities and course leadership. At WVSOM she was recognized by her peers and students receiving the President's Outstanding Faculty Award in 2020. At the state level, she was honored by the West Virginia State Journal's Generation Next 40 Under 40 in 2022 for her work in community programs and research initiatives. 

Dr. Boudreaux's research program is focused on cellular factors that promote virus replication using rotavirus and coronavirus as a model. She has a proven track record of securing extramural funding and training medical students. Dr. Boudreaux also has a passion for outreach and science communication. She has directed a high school focused summer camp for the past six years at WVSOM and co-hosted the podcast The Community Hour.
