Biography
Dr. Hardy is an interdisciplinary professional having worked in several fields including
community development, the environmental field, and most recently, public health and
human services. She is responsible for managing several projects that are aiming to
reduce racial health disparities in Allegheny County and addressing the social determinants
of health.
Hannah E. Hardy is the Assistant Director for Aging Services at the Allegheny County
Department of Human Services. In her current role, Dr. Hardy is responsible for creating
and managing the Internal Systems Bureau. This is a support bureau that works across
all units of Aging Services to facilitate broad services and high-quality programs
for older adult residents of Allegheny County. This is accomplished through four main
strategies: cross programmatic training, monitoring, measurement and development of
workflows and standard operating procedures.
Most recently she served as the Director for the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention
Program at the Allegheny County Health Department where she managed the implementation
of the countywide health and wellness campaign called Live Well Allegheny and all
the programs and activities of the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Program including
the Traffic Safety Education Project and Safe and Healthy Communities Program. In
that role, she was the Principal Investigator for two cooperative agreements with
the Centers for Disease Control. In her previous position she was the Director of
Operations and Programming for Let’s Move Pittsburgh based at Phipps Conservatory
and Botanical Gardens.
Hannah has a 20-year career working in a mixture of non-profit and local government
positions in community development, public health and the environment. She currently
serves on the boards of the Central Catholic high School Crew Team, Children’s Sickle
Cell Foundation, Inc., Flourishing Communities, the Pennsylvania Environmental Council
and Rising Tide Partner – Northside Board. In addition to serving on several working
groups of both national and statewide organizations. She is also an adjunct faculty
member at Carlow University.
Hannah received her Doctorate in Community Engagement from Point Park University,
master's degree in public administration from the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate
School of Public & International Affairs and a bachelor's degree from Miami University
of Ohio. She lives in the City of Pittsburgh with her husband and two sons.
