Biography

J.D. Chaisson is a Pittsburgh-based trumpet player. Though originally from the New England area, J.D. chose to attend Duquesne University where he completed his bachelor's and master's degrees in trumpet performance. J.D. has traveled around the country performing and recording for many artists. Some of them include Ariana Grande, Jason Mraz, Josh Groban, Aaron Neville, Dr. John, Trombone Shorty, Dumpstaphunk, Eric Krasno, and The New Mastersounds. J.D. spent most of his time on the road with New Orleans-based funk band Dumpstaphunk. They played many amazing festivals and venues including the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, Toronto Jazz Festival, Jam Cruise, Electric Forest Music Festival, Brooklyn Bowl, and many others. In addition to touring nationally, J.D. has become a sought after trumpet player in the western Pennsylvania area. He is first call for many recording sessions, is the lead trumpet player for the Pittsburgh Jazz Orchestra, has been a guest artist for Duquesne and Slippery Rock University, and is an adjunct professor teaching trumpet performance at Duquesne University.
