Biography
Professor Jeff Bush currently serves as Area Coordinator of Jazz Studies at Duquesne University.
The Apollo, Pennsylvania native began studying music at age four and his professional career began as a teenager. Early on, Bush performed with The Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, The Glenn Miller Orchestra and received The Frank Rosolino Memorial Scholarship, featuring him at the 1999 International Trombone Festival and allowed study in Berlin, Germany Jiggs Whigham.
In 2000, Jeff moved to New York City and joined the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra. Additionally,
Bush has backed master jazz artists including Benny Golson, Jon Hendricks, Ahmad Jamal,
Jimmy Heath, Hubert Laws, Kevin Mahogany, Cyrus Chestnut, Marlena Shaw and Anthony
Braxton and has performed with The Count Basie Orchestra and The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra.
Bush joined the big band of superstar Harry Connick, Jr. in 2007. As lead trombonist,
Jeff enjoyed global touring, network television appearances and recording on two releases
for Columbia Records.
In other genres, Jeff has performed or recorded with Christina Aguliera, Tom Waits,
Frankie Valli, Paul Anka, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Bobby Caldwell and HBO's
The Sopranos. He has also performed in many orchestras of New York City’s Broadway
Shows and appeared on over fifty albums and jingles
2024 brought Jeff’s career full circle as he assumed the Music Director position of
The Tommy Dorsey Orchestra.
