Joseph F. Domagala

Dr. Joseph Domagala has worked in and has led experiences in the area of Information Systems since 2001 when originally hired as a Consultant for Arthur Andersen LLP and later as an Auditor for Ernst & Young LLP in the Technology & Security Risk Services practice.  Currently, Dr. Domagala proudly serves as a Business & Computer Science teacher for the Pine-Richland School District, teaching concepts including basic computing skills, cyber safety, data analysis, and programming.  For 13 years, Domagala served as Assistant Principal of Eden Hall Upper Elementary School, also in the Pine-Richland School District. Dr. Domagala was responsible for the building’s use of and support for the student information system as well as overall faculty development and grade reporting and was instrumental in the development and implementation of the building’s Health and Safety plan during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Prior to serving in an administrative capacity, Dr. Domagala was a Business Education teacher in both the Pine-Richland and North Hills School Districts.  During this time period, he taught courses that focused on Accounting, Personal Finance, International Business, Marketing, and Computer Applications.  Since 2009, Joe has served as an adjunct instructor of Information Systems & Technology at Duquesne University, teaching both graduate and undergraduate courses in the University’s Palumbo/Donahue School of Business and in the undergraduate Health Administration and Public Health program in the John G. Rangos Sr. School of Health Sciences.  Most recently, Dr. Domagala was appointed as a part-time faculty member in the Computer & Information Systems Department in the School of Informatics, Humanities and Social Sciences at Robert Morris University in Moon Township, PA.

Before entering the educational system, Joe worked as a staff auditor for Ernst & Young LLP. He received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Duquesne University in 2001, graduating as Summa Cum Laude and in the top 10 students of his class. In 2003, Joe received his Master in Business Administration, again from Duquesne University. He received his teaching certification from Robert Morris University in 2004 and in 2006 earned his Master of Science in Business Education with highest honors from Robert Morris University. In 2009, he received his principal K-12 certification from California University of Pennsylvania, and in 2017, Joe completed his doctorate in Interdisciplinary Leadership/Educational Leadership from Creighton University.  Dr. Domagala’s qualitative dissertation study focused on the use of electronic assessment systems to enhance instruction.  He is certified with a Letter of Superintendent Eligibility in the State of Nebraska and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Domagala currently serves as the Chair of the Programming & Events Committee of the Duquesne University Alumni Board of Governors, a member of the Rangos School of Health Sciences Advisory Board, and as President of the Five Seasons Centre Council of Co-Owners at the Myrtle Beach Resort in South Carolina.  Dr. Domagala is profoundly focused on continuous learning and improvement in order to help his students engage in classroom discussion, activities, and hands-on experiences to develop their skills both personally and professionally.
