Biography

Kara Dempsey, Esquire, is the Director of the Youth Advocacy Clinic ("YAC") at the Thomas R. Kline School of Law of Duquesne University. The YAC represents children in both delinquency and education matters and operates as a holistic representation model, with the overall goal of the representation being to meet as many of the client’s needs as possible, rather than merely the single legal issue that brings them to the clinic.

Professor Dempsey seeks to dismantle the school to prison pipeline and to the end, engages in policy and advocacy work around issues pertinent to the clients that the YAC serves.  Professor Dempsey has a Bachelor of Arts from Vanderbilt University, a Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law, and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Pittsburgh.
