Biography
Katy Owens is the Director of Business & Administration at the Palumbo-Donahue School of Business.
Prior to joining Duquesne University, Katy worked at Montana State University for 7 years where she oversaw a team of accountants and managed finances for multiple departments.
Not only does she enjoy working in spreadsheets, but she also finds joy in teaching others the how and why of understanding their budgets and spending.
She has a diverse accounting background in a variety of industries including financial services, tax and accounting offices, HVAC, solar, construction/restoration/mitigation, and farming.
After discovering her knack for numbers, she decided to combine it with her passion for education and determined that higher education financial accounting was her pathway.
She was born and raised in the central valley of California and had an 8 year stint in Montana before moving east. In her down time, she enjoys spending time with her family and dog, crocheting, reading, and going on small adventures to explore new places.
