Biography

Dr. Kasper has been an acute care nurse practitioner for greater than 23 years, with past/current experience including 31 years working in emergency/ trauma/internal medicine services as an EMT, RN, ARNP, with focus on sexual assault of adolescences, adults, and elders, and proudly serving in the USAF as a flight nurse for 9 years. She is a full-time faculty at the School of Nursing teaching in the Advanced Practice Forensic Graduate, Acute Care Adult Gerontology and Family Practice NP programs. She currently practices at a community clinic for uninsured patients, primarily working with migrant women and their families. She is part of the medical team responding to women who have been trafficked in her community.

Dr. Kasper works in partnership with the Gulf Coast Diplomacy Council and US State Department on policy development and implementation at a global health level in over 30 countries. Her work includes teaching leaders, health ministers, and health care providers regarding best practices in recognizing and responding to victims of violence, human trafficking, and sexual assault (SA).

Dr. Kasper is the past president of the International Association of Forensic Nurses and has served on the Board of Directors for a total of 8 years.

Dr. Kasper is the chair of the Trauma Informed Care and Resilience SIG for the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculty.
